We were set up in November 2020, during the covid-19, to continue providing support to older and vulnerable adults over 50, following the closure of an organisation that supported them, potentially leaving them with no support at a critical and uncertain time. We registered as a CIC in November 2021.
Our services are open to everyone, although the majority are from the African Caribbean community. We support people from diverse backgrounds and with a range of health conditions including those living with Dementia. We are a genuine, caring, compassionate and forward-thinking organisation and service user’s health and wellbeing are at the heart of everything we do. We plan to expand and develop services to meet individuals’ needs.
We provide a range of services that help improve overall health and wellbeing and reduce loneliness and isolation. Our services are developed around the needs of service users. Services include wellbeing calls and befriending visits, shopping for essential items, coffee mornings, lunches, games, computer sessions, outings, light exercises, talks from professionals. We are always looking to develop innovative and creative activities and encourage service users to share any ideas they may have.
Our over 50s social group currently meets every Wednesday from 11.30 to 3.30pm at St John’s Methodist Church,
Wolverhampton Road East, Wolverhampton. Being part of a group and having a support network is essential. It is somewhere people can go and meet/interact with others, form friendships, share experience, find support, guidance and advice.
We also provide advice, advocacy, guidance, signposting/referrals, help to read/write letters and complete forms, support to attend medical and social appointments (due to limited resources, we are currently only able to accompany a small number of people to appointments on a first come first served basis. This may also incur a charge based on length of appointment).
To help improve emotional, mental and physical health of adults aged 50 and over, with emphasis on alleviating loneliness and isolation.
Provide a high standard of care and support services to help people live happy, healthy and fulfilled lives and remain independent for as long as possible.
We are committed to equality, independence and choice. We are open and honest and treat everyone fairly and with respect.
